Scholarship, Tuition and Financial Aid

Scholarships

At Leo, we want to work with families to make Leo affordable for families. We offer access to many scholarships and provide financial aid  to anyone who requires assistance. 

Leo provides access to numerous scholarships including: 

$3,000 PARENTAL INCENTIVE

Parents can volunteer for various duties in and around the school and receive a credit on their tuition of up to $3,000 for the year


$9,800 TAX CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP

Administered by the State of Illinois through Scholarship Granting
Organizations such as the Big Shoulders Fund and Empower
Illinois, this scholarship is awarded to students based on financial
need. It covers up to 100 percent of tuition and some fees,
depending on income level. For the 2018-19 school year, 25 Leo
students received an award that covered full or partial tuition
and fees.


$2,000 TO $4,400 BIG SHOULDERS FUND

More than 50 percent of our students received one of several
Big Shoulders Fund Scholarships last year. Big Shoulders Fund
scholarships in the past have included the following: Auxiliary
Board Scholarships, C & M Foundation Scholarships, Canning
Foundation grants, Carrigan Foundation grants, Chairman’s
Award, Corboy-Dempsey Award, Friends of Big Shoulders
Award, Dr. Scholl Foundation Scholarships, Gallagher Foundation
Scholarships, Grover Herman Award, HS Block High School Award,
JCB Family Award, Donald P. & Byrd M. Kelly Award, Masloski
Award, Mazza Foundation grants, and Ringer Award.


$1,000 BOB FOSTER AWARD

Incoming freshmen who score in the top 10 percent on the
placement exam will receive a $1,000 academic award in honor of
Leo’s former longtime president.

$2,500 PHOENIX AWARD

Administered by the Archdiocese of Chicago and awarded to
Archdiocese-owned schools, this award was given to four Leo
students for the 2018-19 school year, at an average of $2,500 each.
Award is based on financial need.

$1,000-$4,000 FRIEND OF LEO

Anonymous Donor: A graduate from the early 1970s has set up a
“Friend of Leo Scholarship” that has benefitted an average of 40
students per year, based on financial need.


$1,000 ANDY MCKENNA LEADERSHIP GRANTS

A gift from McDonald’s underwrites renewable scholarships
worth $1,000 per year in honor of Leo graduate Andy McKenna,
former Chairman of the McDonald’s board who received Leo’s
2016 Lifetime Achievement Award as one of Chicago’s most
distinguished citizens.


$1000- $9,800 CLASS OF 1966 SCHOLARSHIP

Leo’s Class of 1966 sponsors one deserving student per year,
based on academics and financial need.


$500-$7,800 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The Leo Alumni Association sponsors one deserving student per
year, based on academics and financial need.

Tuition

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Thanks to the generous support of our alumni and friends, Leo makes financial aid available to all students who qualify for assistance. A young man who wants to attend Leo is never turned away solely for financial reasons.

Leo tuition for 2022-23: $9,300

Technology Fee: $400

Sports and Activity Fee: $100

Parental Incentive Discount: $3000 for 50 hours of Volunteer Service

For more information on Tax Credit Scholarships: 

Tax Credit Scholarships are a program created by the Illinois Invest in Kids Act. Families can receive full or partial scholarships based on need. Scholarships are given on a first come, first serve basis so it is critical to apply right away each January when scholarships open up.
