The Leo varsity basketball team is now 14-3 following a 70-49 victory at St. Francis de Sales on Friday, Jan. 8. The Lions will take a break from Catholic League competition for a non-conference game with Bloomington Central Catholic at Leo on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Darias Oliver scored 25 points, Darius Branch added 16 and Corielle Robinson had 12 as the Lions improved their Catholic League record to 3-1 with their win at St. Francis. The competition gets tougher the rest of the way, with back-to-back games at Hales (Jan. 16) and Seton (Jan. 23) following the Bloomington game.

Top two finishes by three wrestlers helped Leo to a fourth-place showing in the Roosevelt High Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Senior Miguel Harrell was the individual champion at 182 pounds. Junior Daishawn Rowan placed second at 170 pounds, and senior Leroy Henry was second at 195 pounds as the Lions continue to progress in only their second year since wrestling was revived as a varsity sport.

Leo placed fourth in its bracket at the Catholic League varsity bowling tournament on Saturday, Jan. 9. Senior Ra-Shun Thurmond led the way, totaling 752 pins in five games with a high game of 187. Sophomore Jalen Robinson knocked down 742 pins with a high game of 188, and senior Kentrell Drummond had a 740 total with a high game of 172.
