Tom DeMint saw a story about Leo High School in the Chicago Tribune a few years ago and was intrigued enough by what he read to make a phone call. A former creative director for the prestigious J. Walter Thompson advertising agency, DeMint had lent his expertise to a successful pro bono effort to save Providence-St. Mel when the private West Side high school appeared to be on the ropes back in the 1980s. He wondered if Leo would be interested in similar assistance.

Leo took Tom up on his offer. Over the next few weeks he was joined by his friend David Ford, graphic artist Mary T. Burke and marketing consultant Katie Bailey in creating a print ad campaign that ran in the Chicago Sun-Times and generated unprecedented exposure for Leo. That effort has since mushroomed into an ambitious marketing campaign designed to spread the word about the abundance of good things happening at Leo to prospective students and potential donors.

Leo’s commitment to its Mission has never been stronger. And our story is being told like never before, thanks to the work of two Honorary Leo Men …and Women.
