Principal Shaka Rawls

Dear Leo Community,

It seems like just yesterday I was beginning my  journey at Leo and now we are set to begin the 2017-2018 school year!

We are coming off of a great year at Leo with new technology, positive curricular changes, new painted classrooms and halls and most importantly, what seems to be a new, reinvigorated spirit in Leo. We have come so far and with God’s grace and mercy, we will continue to provide our young men with the education, love, and structure they need to be successful in life.

At Leo, we are are a school of vision, vision to see the potential in every young man who walks through our doors. Young freshman come to Leo nervous but excited about their high school years. We nurture, guide, educate and challenge our students so that after their four years, they are ready to graduate and join the cadre of Leo Men who have gone before them.

We are blessed to have strong teachers and instructional leadership at Leo. This year we have added new staff members to our outstanding team, including Mr. Cook (Dean of Students), Mr. Brown (Spanish), Ms. Hayes (Math/Science) Mrs. Tabernacki (Theology) and Ms. Carroll (Receptionist). Our school and staff are growing!

For over 91 years, Leo High School has stood as a staple of the community and an athletic and academic force in Chicago. I am humbled to have the opportunity to serve as Leo’s principal. In closing, please join me in humbly asking God’s blessing on the students, faculty and friends, of Leo Catholic High School.

Facta non verba!

Educationally yours,

Shaka A. Rawls
