Isaiah KNOX has shown a great deal of maturity recently—exhibiting attentiveness in class and diligence on assignments.
Isaiah is a member of the football, wrestling and track teams and also was selected as one of the student leaders from Leo for Safe Streets Chicago.
After graduation, he will be attending UTI, Universal Technical Institute in Lisle,Illinois to become a diesel technician. Eventually, Isaiah would also like to work in real estate.
Isaiah’s favorite thing about Leo is that it is a brotherhood that focused on giving him lifelong lessons.
EVERARDO SANTANA is our January Student of the Month.
He was nominated because he has committed himself to his school work and has consistently stepped up to tutor and provide additional support for his peers who are learning Spanish.
While at Leo, Lalo has been a member of the baseball team, NHS and is a lead tutor in our Tutoring Center.
His post-graduation goals include having a successful business and playing baseball at the next level.
His favorite thing about Leo is the brotherhood.
Joshua Burke is our February 2023 Student of the Month. He was selected for embracing his role as a head tutor and diligence in keeping up with his school work. He happily works to lead younger lions into embracing what it means to be a Leo Man.
This three sport athlete (football, wrestling, and track) plans to play football in college and earn a degree in kinesiology.
Joshua’s favorite thing about Leo is the relationship with his classmates that continues beyond the school.
Christopher Robinson is our March 2023 Student of the Month. He was selected as a great example to his peers. He’s a humble young man and cares for his fellow classmates.
Chris is a member of the Cross Country Team and also a host of Leo’s new podcast.
This budding entrepreneur intends to continue his business Chris Creations after graduation and to attend college.
“My favorite thing about Leo is my friends I call brothers. You will not find people like them anywhere, and I appreciate Leo for bringing us together.”
MATTHEW HERNANDEZ is our April 23 Student of the Month. He was selected for his consistency with high quality work all year.
Matt is a member of the Leo Baseball Team and National Honor Society and has participated in several community service events.
After graduation, Matt plans to continue playing baseball while pursuing his goal of becoming a well known video editor. Ultimately, his dream is to become successful enough to give back to his community.
My favorite thing about Leo is the brotherhood. There aren’t many students at Leo but because of that the connection between each other is strong.”
Aurelio Valle is our May 2023 Student of the Month. His hard work has paid off. He has on numerous occasions redirected his classmates during lessons by politely asking them to stop talking and hold on while he listens to the teachers. He shows his work in math class. Sometimes, he asks to finish more problems for extra practice. He recently participated in a fun competition with a couple classmates and was excited they had won.
Aurelio is a member of the RISE Program at Leo and plans to attend college after graduation next year. His favorite thing about Leo is “Facts Non Verba.”
AURELIO VALLE is our August 2023 Student of the month. He is the prime example of what a Leo student should be. He comes to class prepared. He turns in his assignments on time.
During his four years at Leo he has been a gift to our community by sharing his love of learning.
Aurelio plans to attend college after graduation and feels that our college prep curriculum is what makes Leo special.
Nicholas is a graduate of St. Nicholas of Tolentine School.
Lordan Black is our September 2023 Student of the Month. He is an outstanding representative of Leo in many ways. Over the summer he did well as an intern for Riverside Development Corp. downtown. Since the start of the school year he has volunteered at the Big Shoulders Fund Auxiliary Ball, traveled to New Orleans for the St. Augustine visit and competed in cross country, all while earning honor-roll grades. Lordan understands what it means to be a Leo Man and works hard to fulfill the responsibility.
Lordan has been a gift by serving as an excellent representative of the school.
After graduation, he plans on changing the world for parents by telling them all of the amazing reasons they should send their son to Leo and the great outcome that will happen [when they do].
He feels that “Leo is special because of our strong academic culture and our Brotherhood.”
Jordan graduated from the Academy of St. Benedict the African.
JAVON LOGAN is our October 2023 Student of the Month. He has been consistent in being a quiet, strong leader for his peers and the underclassmen. He always steps in to de-escalate situations between his fellow Lions and redirect the younger boys. Javon is a star student who is dedicated to excellence in and out of the classroom.
Javon shares his gift of love and support with those he encounters.
“I will change the world by being a pedestal for those who think they can’t make it because of where they are in the world. I want to let kids like me know they can make it so they just have to stay focused and they will succeed.”
“What makes Leo special are the people who are inside of the school. From the freshman all the way to the principal everyone is special. The energy you get when you walk into the doors is like no other and can’t be matched.”
Javon is a graduate of St. Margaret of Scotland School.
Kaleb Larry is our November 2023 Student of the Month. He is an outstanding student and athlete. His maturity level is a great example to which all Leo Men can aspire.
He shares the gifts of companionship and wisdom with the Leo community and brotherhood.
After graduating from Leo, Kaleb hopes to change the perception of the Black Community and launch businesses across the globe.
Leo is unique in being an outlet to grow networking and make lifelong friends.
Kaleb is a graduate of CICS Lloyd Bond.
Chase Jordan is our December 2023 Student of the Month. He is respectable, a great role model and is always ready to take on a new challenge. He doesn’t mind helping his classmates and assisting his teachers. Chase stays after school for activities and to assist when needed.
When asked what gifts he shares with Leo, Chase replied, “I just try to be a good person and lead like the leader people have told me I am.”
After Leo, Chase plans to join the NFL and use his status as a platform to give back and change the world.
“The thing that makes Leo special is since we are on 79th Street everyone thinks we are thugs, which is not true. We are great young men, just like other people, and every time we step out we are proving someone wrong.”
Chase is a graduate of CICS Lloyd Bond School.
KESHAWN COLBERT is our January 2024 Student of the Month. He goes above and beyond to be an exemplary student at Leo. He is a leader, picked up an extra course, and already gained college experience to help him further his education.
Over the past four years Keshawn has shared his value of working hard, skill with communication, and a great sense of humor with Leo both in the classroom and on the football field.
Keshawn’s future plans include attending college, promoting his business, and advocating for Black kids.

ISAIAH GIBSON is April Student of the Month. He was nominated for finishing his senior year strong. His grades are a clear reflection of his determination to be successful.
Isaiah has shared his sense of humor and athleticism with Leo. After graduation, he will join the military and then plans on donating to the community where he grew up and most importantly donating to Leo. “What makes Leo so special is the brotherhood…the teachers never allow you to fail.”
Isaiah is a graduate of Roosevelt Jr. High School.
ZION BOBO is our May 2024 Student of the Month. He was selected because he wanted to help his classmates complete their portfolios and study for the final exam. He was so happy to tell them how theirs could be better because of the feedback he had received on his practice portfolio. Zion is one of those students that would make a teacher proud to guide him academically.
Zion shares his kindness with Leo.
He plans to be a successful business man with a large company after he graduates. When asked what makes Leo special, he replied, “I like everything about it; I like my classes; I like what I am doing.”
