One of the most memorable concerts in the history of the Leo Glee Club and Gospel Choir took place in the school auditorium on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Under the tutelage of Mrs. LaDonna Hill, Leo’s incomparable music director, Leo’s singers and musicians entertained for approximately 70 minutes. Mr. Frank Wilson, Leo’s vice-principal, served as host. Program highlights included readings by freshmen Antoine Wheeler and Cassius Kurns and solo performances by juniors Chris Calloway and Terrence Lee Jr.
The auditorium was set up to accommodate 120 guests, but two trips to a storage room for additional chairs were required as the audience exceeded 150. Everyone in attendance—participants and spectators alike—left with smiles on their faces, imbued with Christmas spirit by the energetic, uplifting evening.
Two nights later, a group of six singers from the choir, including in-uniform basketball players Lee, Chris Winters and Aamir Holmes, delivered a bravura rendition of the National Anthem before the Leo-Brother Rice basketball game at St. Xavier University, setting just the right tone for the Lions’ 55-53 victory.
