The Leo Lions Cross Country team won their first meet of the season at the Gwendolyn Brooks Fro-Soph Invitational on Wednesday evening with 26 points.
The team had personal records from every member including the top five finishers on the team. Sophomore Damon Taylor came in first place with a time of 12:06, freshman Richard Coleman was second with 12:11, fellow freshman Edward Harris was 5th with 12:37, Damen Ward, another freshman was 8th running 12:45 and Sophomore Christian Johnson rounded out the top five finishers for the Lions at 12:48.
The Lions also received good contributions from Pierre Montgomery, Clyde Whiting, Khalil Blakes, Clifford Armstead and Ethan Hudson.
The team will look to continue their success as they travel to Peoria,IL for an Invitational at Detweiller Park.
