Friday, March 24, was signing day at Leo High School for two Leo seniors who intend to continue their athletic careers with college scholarships. Khalid Manney (top), a four-year member of the basketball program, signed a letter-of-intent to play basketball at Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa. Khalid is also the top-ranked student in the senior class, on track to become valedictorian for Leo’s Class of 2017. Joining him for the signing are (front, left to right) youth league coach Anthony Roberts, Khalid, his mother, Jacqueline Manney, and sister,  Khylar Manney. Leo President Dan McGrath (standing, left to right), Principal Shaka Rawls and Dean of Students Michael Holmes look on. Damari Owens (bottom), a three-sport Leo athlete and a member of the National Honor Society, signed a letter-of-intent to play football at Benedictine University in Lisle, Il. Damari also wrestled and ran track at Leo. He will play safety in college. Damari’s older brother Eric is a 2012 Leo graduate and his younger brother Dorion is a Leo freshman. The Leo Family congratulates Khalid and Damari on their achievements and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.
